CONFUSION IN THE NATION

"Be what you would seem to be - or
if you would like to put more simply

appeared to them otherwise".

The incredible storm of misinformation
was summed up by Lewis Carrol
in this quote. Describes, individuals,
Republicans, Democrats and all the
new misinformed nubs that have
formed and morphed since Obama
was elected.

The media, the public, and the politicians
has worked up a lather of mistrust and
cofusion that even Carrol would be hard
put to understand.

THE U.S. IS A HOUSE DIVIDED

This week I declare , somewhat with tongue in cheek,
that we do not learn from history I will use a number
of quotes to illustrate that point. This is cross cultural
but primarily is applied to our sad state of existence as
a people now. There is something for everyone here left,
right, religious, agnostic etc.etc.etc.
The first quote is the most universal of all and is found
in the bible. This wise but mostly ignored, often proven
fact, has been a reality for some time. Matthew 12:25
Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom
divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house
divided against itself will stand. ...If the members of a
group fight each other, the group will disintegrate". This
rings true and is good advice for Republicans and Democrats
who have destroyed order and created chaos in their
stubborn division. For no good reason or purpose.

Abraham Lincoln considered division when he declared in
his "House Divided" Speech
Lincoln stated: "Familiarize yourselves with the chains of
bondage and you prepare your own limbs to wear them
What constitutes the bulwark of our own liberty and
independence? It is not our frowning battlements, our
bristling sea coasts, our army and our navy.... Our
reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted
in us. Our defense is in the spirit which prizes liberty as
the heritage of all men, in all lands everywhere. Destroy
this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism
at your own doors. spirit which prizes liberty as the
heritage of all men, in all lands everywhere".

A brief pause for humor, What is the nickname of a
1925 court case in which John Scopes was charged
with teaching evolution in the classroom? The trial was
nicknamed the ChaCha. Another example of the halting
of progress in the history of man and monkey. This was
a phrase that was generated by the sensational press of
the time and not lady GaGa. This divided the nation
pretty much down the middle into the religious right
and the "scientific left".

"George Washington delivered this speech over 200
years ago. The General spoke from a prepared text for
approximately five minutes. The remarks were built
around a series of parallel constructions that
emphasized the men's common sacrifice. They
had become like family, and he only wanted what
was just and right for them. But they must not be
imprudent or disloyal, not after having gone through
so much together, and not when so the men were
moved by his appeals--in fact, it was the most powerful
speech they had ever heard him deliver. To illustrate
I wish to turn to the man, the 200Th anniversary of
whose passing we shall be celebrating within the

The speech was given by Washington when he got
wind of a mounting insurrection that was dividing
the war effort into two camps among his officers.
This was a crucial and deciding factor in this conflict that
would have undermined the nations defense.

Another pause for humor of a ironic nature. "Democracy
is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better
than we deserve". George Bernard Shaw. (1856 - 1950)
One must realize that Bernie must have had the average
American of today in mind when he uttered these words. You are
often the enemy not government.
Napoleon Bonaparte must have had a crystal ball when
he said that [Medicine is] "a collection of uncertain
prescriptions the results of which, taken collectively,
are more fatal than useful to mankind". French general
& politician (1769 - 1821).

Recently Obama has set up a new matrix for a new racist
attitude which was already at the root of some of his
unpopularity. This is a speech by By Aloha kakou. Mahalo.
Directed at the people of Hawaii who have for years
practiced a de-facto racism towards the indigenous people
of this far away state. Mostly known as a great all inclusive
golf vacation spot for the rich. No one leaves the safety of the
golf course to venture into the world of injustice and racism
that is outside. "The people of Hawaii are thoroughly intermarried and
intermingled. We live, work, pray, and attend school
side by side in the most racially integrated society
in all of America. What history and the free choices
of people have joined together, let not politicians
and racist demagogues rip asunder. Support equality,
unity, brotherhood, and aloha for all."

Obama has in his supposed innocence become the
man who has inadvertently divided the nation
racially for this reason and others he will be a one
term president. We would do well to remember
this quote from the
journal of John Adams. (1735 - 1826),
Journal, 1772 "There is danger from all men. The
only maxim of a free government ought to be trust
no man living ought with power to endanger the
public liberty".

Perhaps Obama has inadvertently done this but as
Harry Truman said " The buck stops here" Our
president is where the buck stops and no matter
how you rationalize it he is responsible for this sad
state of the nation. He is also responsible for the
diminished economic and political power that we
have taken for granted for so long.


You might accuse me of cynicism but again George
has some humorous advice for you about real
observation and real blame. "The power of accurate
observation is commonly called cynicism by those
who have not got it". George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

One of our brilliant past president summed it up in one
quote that rings true with all politicians to the extreme
in this political climate. "You know what's interesting
about Washington ? It's the kind of place where
second-guessing has become second nature"
George W. Bush (1946 - ), Speech on May 17, 2002.
Thank you for those words of wisdom George which
about sums up most of the inhabitants ,underground
,above ground and loitering around the halls in
Washington these days.

Nation building is not needed in Iraq, or Afghanistan
or any place else but right here at home in the U.S.A.
We are paralyzed and divided by fear and mistrust
that there is now a critical need to rebuild the nation.
Not in the same old way but with a realistic eye to
the future. Again, "There is danger from all men. The
only Maxim of a free government ought to be to trust
no man living with power to endanger the public liberty".

We have entrusted the nation to a man who for whatever
reason he has endangered public liberty simply by his
lack of leader ship, lack of accomplishments, and the
failures in domestic and foreign policies. Now we have
lost a war and the hearts and minds of most of most of

moment did it not , when known, so deeply tinge what we

Until the restoration of our "status" as a world power
and leader we will, as individuals, remain in this sad state.
We are a nation divided, fragmented, and paralyzed
by our own inadequate sense of self.

WILL THE COST OF WAR RESULT IN PEACE ?

The year is 1989, December 20Th and Panama is
invaded by formidable U.S. force that included
27,684 troops and over 300 aircraft. Soundly
defeating the 46,000 Panamanian Defense Force.
Officially 200 Panamanian civilians died in the
conflict, many say that more like 2000 died due
to the brutal use of firepower in populated areas.
"JUST CAUSE" was justified by the U.S. as
the defense of human rights in Panama and
combating drug trafficking. The end result
was to guarantee the continued safe use of
the Panama Canal and the capture of the corrupt
president of Panama, Manuel Noriega and his
subsequent trial and imprisonment . He was
wanted for drug trafficking in the U.S. after years
of U.S. support that allowed his existence.

The Year is 2010 and the United States has landed
the 4Th fleet in Costa Rica. The President is
not wanted for Drug trafficking. This invasion is by
invitation of President Chihuahua and the Costa
Rica ruling body politic. The reason , combating
drug trafficking and to perform acts of mercy
and peace. Sound familiar ?

Most Central American countries have served as a
de facto pipeline for drugs like marijuana, cocaine,
and now the new "chemically" concocted drugs
to the U.S. and Europe. They have notoriously
turned the other cheek and allowed the transport
and some cases raw materials for the drug cartels.
No "criminal acts",involved only a breakdown of
responsibility and morality. The new apple in the
garden of Eden in this decade is greed and power.
Only Nicaragua can truly be excluded in this
group of facilitators.

However the invasion will probably be short lived
since most of the fleet will depart soon possibly parking
offshore in Venezuelan waters in a show of force. This
is in support of Colombia who is the supplier of
most of the worlds cocaine and 80% of the concrete
used in Panama. The media is now "predicting" at the
least an eminent border war between Colombia
and Venezuela.

The economic cost of an "out of control war" in South
America is almost an impossibility at this point. After all
the trade between Colombia and Venezuela is now
calculated to be $5 billion yearly. The U.S. has poured
over $5 billion in U.S. aid into Colombia and has infused
U.S. advisers throughout their huge military complex .
Venezuela has substantial oil reserves and supplies almost
20% of oil used in the U.S. Again the corporations
rule not the politicos.

An appetite for armed conflict does not exist in this climate.
Venezuela's military looks anemic when compared to
the U.S. backed Colombian military. Unless Chavez initiates
a Don Quixote attack on the 4Th fleet we will not see armed
conflict between the two (three?) nations. The poor in both
Venezuela and Colombia will remain poor and the de facto
trade and transport of Drugs will continue to grow. Ditto
Panama.

However the Drug cartels should beware since the seeds
for the legalization of drugs have been planted in the U.S.
This might herald the beginning of the end of free flowing
money to the criminal right. Already huge investments
are being made in real estate and facilities for the extensive
production of Marijuana in the state of California. If A new
industry is born leading the way to legalization of drugs.
Capitalism will win and the drug cartels will loose.

NATION BUILDING IN A TIME OF RECESSION

FLOTILLA OF 46 US VESSELS TO ENTER
THIS SMALL PARADISE.(A MINIMAL
FORCE OF 113,000 PERSONNEL IS THE
REQUIRED PERSONNEL TO MAKE THIS FLEET
FUNCTIONAL) THE MAXIMUM PERSONAL
NEEDED COULD BE AS MUCH AS 200,000.
THE OUTSTANDING FEATURE OF THIS
FLOTILLA IS THE 7000 BATTLE READY
MARINES WHO WILL BE ALLOWED ON
SHORE IN FULL DRAG. IN ADDITION
THERE ARE 200 HELICOPTERS AND
WARPLANES STORED ON BOARD THE

GUARDIAN ANGEL. MAYBE THE FOURTH
FLEET IS THE NEW ANGEL IN THE WATER.
IN THE PAST THE FLEET FUNCTIONED AS
A HAMMER TO MAINTAIN "TRANQUILITY"
AND "STABILITY" IN LATIN AMERICA.
THE COAST GUARD ADMIRAL WHO COMMANDS
THE FLEET SAYS THEY ARE THERE FOR
"ANTI-NARCOTICS OPERATIONS AND
HUMANITARIAN MISSIONS UNTIL
DECEMBER. YEP THAT'S RIGHT, A COAST
GUARD ADMIRAL,WHICH MUST TICK OFF
A LOT OF NAVY ADMIRALS SINCE THE
FOURTH IS HARDLY A FLEET THAT GUARDS
PORTS, BRIDGES OR STANDS GUARD
OVER FAR AWAY COASTAL WATERS.
THE FOURTH WAS DESIGNED FOR THE
DESTRUCTION OF NATIONS. THE FIRE
POWER OF THE FLEET GIVES MACHISMO
TO THE "WAR ON DRUGS" SINCE IT IS LIKE
KILLING A SINGLE FLY WITH A SHOTGUN.

ARMY FOR 60 YEARS WHEN THE LARGEST
MILITARY FACILITY WAS HANDED OVER
TO THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION WHO
CONVERTED IT INTO A SCHOOL. THE
ARMY WAS DISBANDED AND THE FUNDS
USED TO SUPPORT EDUCATION AND
WELFARE PROGRAMS LIKE SOCIAL
SECURITY

PRESIDENT LAURA CHINCHILLA HAS
DENIED THAT A MILITARIZED FIGHT ON
DRUGS IS IN THE WORKS. THE PRESS
BLACKOUT BY THE WHITE HOUSE HAS
BEEN EFFECTIVE AND I DOUBT IF ANYONE
WILL NOTICE ANYTHING UNTIL THE
MARINES START SHOWING UP IN FULL
COMBAT DRAG AT THE LOCAL PUBS. THIS
INVASION OF PRIVACY MIGHT POSSIBLY
UPSET SOME COSTA RICANS. ?WHY NOT?

MANY WILL SUGGEST THEY QUICKLY SAIL
BACK TO MEXICO WHERE THIS KIND
OF FIRE-POWER AND THE MARINES
MIGHT BE PUT TO USE. IF THERE IS A
HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN COSTA RICA
IT IS A VIRTUAL ONE CREATED BY THE
U.S. A MAJOR CRISIS IS ONLY A FEW
CLICKS AWAY FROM THE HOME OF THE
4TH. THE GULF OF MEXICO IS ONLY A
FEW HOURS SAILING FROM THEIR HOME
BASE. I ASSUME THEY HAVE SOME GPS
DEVICES ABOARD TO FIND THEIR WAY

CRISIS RIGHT NEXT DOOR IN THE U.S.

THEY PROBABLY NEED SOME OF THAT
GOVERNMENT MONOPOLY GAS
RESERVES STORED IN COSTA RICA
THAT MOST CITIZENS THERE CAN NOT
POSSIBLY AFFORD. MY PREDICTION IS
THE FLEET WILL SAIL ON TO VENEZUELA
TO DO THE TANGO WITH CHAVEZ.
HOWEVER SINCE THEY ARE THERE
THEY MIGHT CONSIDER ASSISTING IN
THE REPAIR OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE
THAT IS FAST DECOMPOSING SINCE
BUDGET CUTS AND THE WORLDWIDE
RECESSION HAVE PUT THE COSTA RICA
INFRASTRUCTURE AND ECONOMY IN A
SAD STATE OF REPAIR. LOOKS STRANGE

BORDERING THE VENEZUELAN STATE
OF ZULIA HAS UP TO 800 TROOPS AND
AN UNDETERMINED NUMBER OF U.S.
ADVISERS.

A HUGE AIR BASE ON THE BORDER,
CONSTRUCTED WITH U.S. AID , HAS
OVER 600 COMBAT READY AIRCRAFT
ON ALERT. THIS INCLUDES A VARIETY
OF FIGHTER JETS, 111 TRAINER T-3
WITH U.S. ADVISERS IN THE BACK
SEAT AND A VARIETY OF 115 ATTACK
CHOPPERS. THEY ALSO HAVE AN
UNDETERMINED NUMBER OF PRIVATE
MILITARY CONTRACTORS ON THE SCENE.
TWO OTHER ALMOST IDENTICAL BASES
HAVE BEEN BUILT AND EQUIPPED WITH
THE SAME STRENGTH. MY PREDICTION
IS THAT BOLIVIA WILL PROD CHAVEZ
UNTIL THERE IS AN OPEN WAR. NO
NEED TO WORRY COSTA RICA THE 4TH
FLEET HAS BIGGER FISH TO FRY.

IT IS CALLED NATION BUILDING.

PERSHIBLE GOODS

Mention of the word "CRUSADES" was responsible
for an international tirade directed at the United States
and specifically at then president Bush. This makes one
wonder if the balance of good and evil in religion has
benefited society all that much. Make no mistake this
is not about Catholicism or any other specific religion,
but about all religions that make claims to profess faith,
hope and charity in some form. The balance may be on
the side of evil when you realize millions of people have
perished under the banner of various religions. Most
people who exclude themselves from participation in
formal religious activity seldom commit mass murder or
genocide. Of course there are exceptions but far less than
imagined. Religions on "specific crusades of promotion"
have killed, maimed and caused incalculable suffering
for centuries. Religions are often at the root of Racism
and economic manipulation of the masses. Mass
genocide has resulted and continues by misdirected
Muslims who now have declared a Jihad to eliminate
all who are not "true believers". The Catholic church
sweeps under the rug major crimes by the catholic
clergy. Possibly thousands of children have been
molested and injured for life. This is not just in specific
countries but is a global problem. Is this not evil
and injurious to society? Crimes committed by the
catholic clergy in the present and past are now in the
global spotlight.

Perhaps the problem with religions is that men write
the rules and not an illusive God. Man has always been

less than perfect. Most religions are headed by men who
claim the exclusivity of direct communication with
God through a most complicated system that most
people accept with "blind faith" . It would seem that
man in his ant-like existence in the universe would
have a low priority on any Gods list of things to do. We are
specifically not important in the grand scheme. Our
tiny satellite universe is infinitesimal when viewed as
part of the wider Universe.

Global warming is only important to those affected directly

, it would be presumptuous for all to wage a war on

Global warming when it might just be a glitch that is

a normal or abnormal continuous evolution of the universe.

Should it be man made then a correction of this massive

error in judgement is a hopeless challenge. The best man

can do is adapt to this change. I doubt that global

warming can be halted or slowed significantly.

However It has the potential to unite all nations on earth
who must adapt and work in unison together or perish.
The goal should not be to stop this natural or unnatural

evolution of the universe but to adapt to the change. A

common enemy may put a stop to the killing if nations unite

against a single inhumane catastophe instead of seeking

destruction of each other through aggressive wars.

However "Global Warming" may only result in more
chaos as protectionism becomes the new rule of survival.
I am not optimistic about prayers to the Gods at your
local church, temple or place of meeting. A plea to the
"God's", your special God, or your comercial representative

with a direct line to God will probably not stop the

evolution of the natural or unnatural Universe. One

option might be global peace, unification will allow

energy and resources to be redirected. Using these

resources for Destructive wars based on political,

economic, or religious platforms seems to be the norm

now. Stopping this useless waste of energy and money

may be critical to the survival of all who inhabit the

earth.

Like the Dinosaurs man can perish from the face
of the earth.

THE EDSEL FACTOR

The most obvious can sometimes
be completely overlooked. There
are hard facts that support the
fact that Lithium will become
unavailable for the production
of Lithium Ion batteries for the
EV's and Hybrid's of the future or
the present

The folly of dependance on LIthium
ion batteries for a power storage
source or as a bridge technology
until a more enduring technology
is developed is not a secret.
Until Fuel cell Batteries are in
production or an alternate source
is developed the EV market may
collapse.

This adds fuel to the theory that a
giant auto maker may face another
crisis. This mega auto producer
may be marching towards it's
decline as a world market leader.

There are great reserves of the heavy
metal Lithium in sea water but the
enormous cost of extracting it is
off the charts. There is no evidence
that this reserve will ever be utilized.

There is even less evidence that
the existing Lithium mines in
South America can deliver the goods
in less than 20 years. The reserves are
there but the infrastructure is not.
There is a complete absence of an
infrastructure central to these mines
and the political climate is less than
friendly for foreign capital.

The "Prius Edsel factor" part one

Prius is planing a switch from Nicad

battery to the highly touted lithium ion

battery. This will likely give the Prius a

place in auto history as infamous as the

Ford Edsel. The ion battery will disappear

from the market in less than 15 years.

Lithium mines are already having trouble

keeping up with the cell phone and laptop

computer demand. There will be zero

reserves of lithium within 12 to 15 years.

Hybrids will need to find an option to the

lithium ion battery.

Switching to the Ion battery will put the

Prius in a class of its own. The process

of adapting your Prius to an battery

powered ion plug in will cost you around

$12000.00 minus a tax break of an estimated

$4000.00 Not an economical option.

The battery problem might just price the

Prius out of the market for working stiffs

who make less than $200,000.00 a year.

Most of the over 10,000. prius owners will

need to replace their nicad batteries in

about 8 years. Presently he cost is around

$3000.00. The projected cost in 8 years

will likely exceed $6000.00 but supply will

be nill. They will need to find another

option to keep their Toyota humming along

at lightning speeds.

The Chinese are eating nickel

as if it were rice. Nickel is used to

produce stainless steel and China leads

in export and domestic production of

stainless steel. The cost of nickel is

expected to make a 500% cost leap in

less than 5 years. Reserves of nickel in

the world market are dangerously low.

Nicad batteries are already priced out

of the market. That eliminates the nicad

and switching to Ion batteries will result

in a bigger hit to Toyota than any of the

damaging recalls presently undermining

faith in the reliability of all Toyotas. The

option for a change to Ion batteries for

Hybirds to ion plug ins is like selling snake

oil to cure diabetics. Cost factors will not

be a problem but supply will. The raw

material, lithium, will not be available

since there are no producing

mines. Estimates are that it would take

at least ten years to develop the

infrastructure to allow production in

the two existing mines in South America.

Presently the worlds production ,which

is dwindling to nothing, is used to make

the wonderful exploding ion batteries

used in notebooks and cell phones.

You might recall the press bites on

flaming notebooks, Ion batteries are

prone to overheating a fault that is far

worse than "sudden acceleration".

Look for press bites in the future on

flaming or exploding Priuses. There

will be an acute shortage of Ion batteries

and the cost will be porhibitive for most

Prius owners other than Steve Jobs or

Bill Gates who both drive a Prius on

ocassion.

Again Toyota moves toward another

drop in sales when the Public realizes

that the Prius will be virtually obsolete

in less than ten years. Sooner if you were

a"pioneer" and need to change your

batteries sooner.

The annual sales volume of the Prius is

now exceeding 100,000 units. Which

proves that the gullible world market will

buy snake oil if you beat a drum hard

enough and package your product

attractively. Again "the Edsel Factor".

Consumers are simply uniformed by the

lack of truth and blinded by media hype.

Are there other options for this disaster

that are practical? The simple answer is

no. The only future option that might be

practical are fuel cells but development

of this clean technology will take at least

another 10 years. Production will probably

take another 5 years to commence. This

will allow time for the public to become

thourougly disillusioned with electric

power by any means. The Japanese

auto industry may be facing the same fate

experienced by the auto industry in the United

States, Death from arrogance, greed and

poor management. Even giants like Godzilla

can be reduced to ashes when they step into

a volcanic crater. Possibly there might be a

miraculous recovery of the auto industry in

the U.S. Henry Ford would be proud.
